about

One of the first songs I wrote when I started considering sobriety ("Intoxicate me cause I'm sober now") and a meditation on "the grass is greener" narrative - that perhaps all your problems could dissipate if you just drive the right mileage down the right highway.

lyrics

Intoxicate me, cause I'm sober now.
I need a reason to get out this house.
Ain't much to do in this part of town,
But if you pick me up I promise I'll sneak out.
And we'll drive way, we'll drive away.

We're driving through the storm together,
The pavement, you can hardly see.
We're moving to the next town over,
They've got a bar where we can be.

Forget the ones we left behind,
They don't get to chase us down.
We'll find some day jobs to pass the time,
To make some night money we'll throw around.
And we'll settle down, we'll settle down.

We're driving through the storm together,
The pavement, you can hardly see.
We're moving to the next town over,
They've got a bar where we can be.

And we're singing, and we're screaming,
And we're dancing, you and me, we're free.
